How To Create A View Template From View In Revit

If you're not using View Templates for your projects, then y'all may be missing out on a huge timesaver! How many times accept yous duplicated a view for a specific task, created a section view, or created an height view while working in a project? Many times, right? Afterwards creating these new views, how much time is spent opening the visibility graphics override and changing view settings for objects in that view? Unfortunately, many users waste product a lot of time doing exactly this. View Templates are a collection of settings such as scale, detail level, and visibility settings which can exist applied to any view. This helps salvage time past keeping your views consistent and clean instead of editing each view and trying to think what settings are turned on or off.

Earlier we go started, take note of the type of views yous will be using in your project. These tin be plan views, department views, elevation views, 3D views, etc. Next, what is the purpose of these views? Are they Working Views used to model? Are they Detail Views used to communicate the design? Or perchance they are just Presentation Views? Showtime, go to the View tab, Graphics panel, and click View Templates.
There are 3 options under the command, and you will want to select Manage View Templates.

This dialog box will open and may contain some default View Templates already. If yous do non want to use these, they can easily be deleted past clicking the icon with the red X.

Click the newspaper icon to create the new template.

One time yous create a new template, use the pane on the correct to change the view properties for this new View Template then click OK.

To assign the View Template to one of your views in the project, only go to the view backdrop in your backdrop panel. Scroll down until you come across View Template and click the button that shows <None>.

From here yous tin assign a View Template to the view. All the settings you gear up in the template are now applied to that view and cannot be changed unless you switch the view template back to <None>.
